PROFESSIONAL BIOGRAPHY
Jeremiah D. Johnson is a cybersecurity leader, educator, and Security+ facilitator with more than 30 years of U.S. Navy service and extensive experience translating complex cybersecurity concepts into clear, practical instruction. As a Course Instructor at Western Governors University, he supports 300 to 350 learners pursuing CompTIA Security+ and ISC2 SSCP certification, guiding them through risk management, security architecture, identity and access management, cryptography, network defense, incident response, and governance.
His facilitation approach combines certification-objective alignment, scenario-based instruction, and individualized coaching. He helps learners identify knowledge gaps, interpret assessment results, apply security principles in realistic operational contexts, and build the confidence required to succeed on certification examinations and in cybersecurity roles.
Operationally, he has led cyber threat intelligence, information warfare planning, and cyber readiness efforts supporting Fleet forces and senior Navy leadership. His experience includes delivering actionable cyber threat intelligence to four-star staffs, integrating cyber considerations into maritime operations and major exercises, and developing high-performing cyber and information warfare teams and capabilities.
He holds a Master's degree in Information Systems and maintains CISSP, Security+, and Network+ certifications. By combining practitioner experience with learner-centered instruction, he brings credibility, patience, and mission focus to every facilitation session. He is committed to making cybersecurity approachable, developing resilient security professionals, and helping learners connect certification objectives to the decisions they will face in the field.
